When we took on the allotment the area in the above photograph was under masses of weed some almost as tall as I am.

We strimmed the whole plot, which took a couple of days, but meant we could finally see what we were looking at. I decided that this top corner would make a nice place to sit back and admire our handiwork.

Then I thought “Actually, what would be really nice here would be a bit of a pond, something to attract a bit of wildlife.” So that became the plan.

And now it looks like this. It is about three feet deep in the middle, and has a couple of what I’m calling “Marsh Pods” in a couple of places

A few more plants have been added since I took this photo.

The Marsh Pods have been planted too, this one with an Iris

It will likely be a couple of years before it is fully established, but I hope it will become a haven for creatures of many kinds.
