Snow on the original allotment.

Yes, you read that right, “allotments.”

My husband has decided that our plot isn’t big enough. It is ready to start growing when the ground starts to warm up, but he wants a shed, and a greenhouse, which aren’t permitted on our original plot.

An overview shot of the new plot.

The new plot is a bit smaller than our other allotment, but has a shed, and foundations for 2 small greenhouses.

The shed

More properly, it should be called shed 1, this shed has 2 rooms, and will be used as a place to make brews, eat lunch, and when necessary, shelter from rain. A second shed which we already have will be put up later, after this one has had some repairs which are needed. A greenhouse (possibly two) will be put up later.

The apple tree

There are some fruit bushes on the new plot, and a beautiful mature apple tree, which bears a large amount of fruit evidenced by the huge amount of apples on the ground around it.

The Pond?

It looks like there is a pond here, but it was hard to tell with everything being frozen on our first visit.

Looking towards the gate

There is work we can do before the growing season starts, tidying up, planning, and repairs to structural elements.

So that’s it for the autumn quarter, and the winter quarter of the year will mostly be about preparation for the growing season.

The next allotment update will be March, or April, as we begin to see things getting underway in longer, and hopefully warmer days.
