I’ve added a footer.

It’s the logo, with link, of the company I work for, I’d have said “Proudly Sponsored By:” except that there’s no money involved, just me being part of the team, and promoting the company. Almost no one will click through, (it is worth a click, to see the video of the factory in action) and of those that do, the odds are vanishingly small that they’ll need our services, but you just never know.

Before going further, I should point out that Hilton Docker Mouldings has no editorial input to this site, and nothing contained within Portabellobelle.com is endorsed by that company.

In other news, I bought some decals to promote the site, which i have affixed to the rear window of my car. Delightfully I not only managed to order the perfect size, but was able to fit correctly the first time, nicely centred, and level, sometimes I amaze myself. Having been born with no artistic talent whatsoever, getting this to work nicely is nothing short of a minor miracle.

Casting my gaze a little further, I notice that my pension pot has taken a hit.

The tariffs brought in by the petulant child in the Oval Office, have caused stock markets to fall, and since some of my pension pot is invested in those markets, its value has fallen, and it has to be said that there wasn’t a lot in there to start with. This is just one of the ways in which Trump’s America is hurting me and the rest of the world, I dread to think about just how much damage one man can do in…

…I was going to say 4 years, but it occurs to me that there is no guarantee that he’ll allow a peaceful transfer of power (remember last time?) or that he will even allow a vote. I remember him saying “You’ll never need to vote again” and thinking, of course they’ll need to, but I wonder if you’ll let them. I see the other things he’s doing, and can’t help but be reminded of some of the books I’ve read;

• 1984
• Brave New World
• Fahrenheit 451
• Animal Farm

There are real world examples from history, of how, left unchecked, things can go from bad to diabolical, when 1 man, surrounded by like-minded flunkies turn the world into a nightmare, and some of those things seem to be happening to greater, and lesser degrees in the USA right now, and I feel fear.

Incidentally, the Prime Minister here in the UK, seems to me, to be a bit weak in the face of international pressures, and whilst he hasn’t exactly kowtowed to the American “Brat – in – chief” neither has he called him out over his more objectionable policies, and that makes me sad, it also makes me wonder what it will take to wake up governments outside of the US. All I can do is hope that they do wake up, and stand against what one of my Mastodon peeps calls The Tangerine Tyrant.
